Deploying Drones Since 2014

Whilst we all know what a drone is, the world of aviation does like the abbreviation of UAV, SUA, UAS, RPAS, RPS, RPA, UA (to name a few).

At Kemp we have been deploying drones since 2014. Notably, during the earthworks measure on the A380 Kingsteignton By-Pass. This was one of the very earliest uses of the technology.

Our aerial surveys are generally used to compliment other survey techniques and to infill areas of restricted access. We have a number of trained pilots and UAVs in-house. We are fully insured and are registered with the CAA for commercial flights.

Flights are often conducted to assist with as-built surveys, boundaries, topographic, roof and cliff surveys. The rectified images are often inserted into surveys to assist clients with visualisation.

The rapid development of drones has led to a significant increase in their use for surveying applications.

Progress photos and videos can also be taken at oblique angles to demonstrate works completed or general construction progress. Similar photographs can also be employed for promotional or visualisation purposes.

We have also been able to provide the view from a yet to be constructed penthouse apartment on the 10th floor by calculating and piloting the drone to the precise location.

Inspection of difficult to reach locations such as roofs and cliffs is possible with live streams to interested parties who can be logged on to the pilots view from home.

Data collected by aerial techniques can vary in quality and accuracy and it can be the case that firms overstate accuracy or unknowingly employ the technique, so if you are considering the use of a drone for your project please feel free to contact us for a friendly informal chat.
