Utility Surveys & Mapping is the domain of our specialist division Seeka that was established in 2006.

Seeka can help designers, developers and contractors pinpoint the location of buried services.

We have experience in working in a vast range of environments including water & sewage treatment plants, electricity sub-stations, hospitals, schools/colleges, factories, industrial and residential estates, visitor attractions and holiday parks as well as highways and public spaces.

We use the latest in detection technology to find the exact location of underground utilities. Some of the technology employed includes Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), radio detection and CCTV. Mobile GPR with post processing is employed when specifications and traffic management deem it to be the optimum solution.

Surveys are carried out in accordance with PAS 128 as the basis of the specification. Detected services are marked on the surface, and so a site mark out is standard, and the location is recorded with GPS and total stations. Completed surveys are provided in dwg 2d and 3d formats as well as PDF relative to topographic surveys provided by clients or carried out by ourselves.

Seeka will provide an outline survey for reference if a detailed topographic survey is not available or required. Written reports and recommendations can be provided, and we can arrange our partners to undertake vacuum excavation for further proofing when necessary.

Seeka surveyors bring experience and training to often complex areas and utility networks, greatly reducing the potential safety and financial risks associated with development of brownfield sites and excavation within the highway.

Our surveyors are confined space trained and have experience of entering and mapping underground chambers and culverts as well as detecting and locating them from above. With our in-house surveyors, accredited under the street works programme we can install our own traffic management and arrange street work notices when necessary.

Our Seeka division work throughout the South West and into South Wales, often at night to minimise traffic disruption. Have a look at our news page or social media to see some of the projects that the team have been involved with. Further information is also available from our client guides also. Our friendly team are always available to discuss your project so please feel free to call us with your requirements.
